Note that Alice is consistantly thwarted in her attempts to actually drink tea by the random and illogical rules set down by the Mad Hatter.
The only difference between the Tea Party and actually living in France is that Alice didn't need to fill out any forms in triplicate before sitting down, and the Tea Party isn't open for business only on alternate Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 to 12.
